CLA Bass

Chris Lord-Alge on CLA Bass: “From sub-shaking smooth sounds to Mr. Buzzsaw, CLA Bass is just what the doctor ordered. The plugin was designed to help you lay down a solid foundation for any song. It gives you six essential effects: bass, treble, compression, sub, distortion, and chorus/flange. Whether you want it to rip, roar, growl, bark, or cut, CLA Bass delivers.”

CLA Drums

Chris Lord-Alge on CLA Drums: “One of my favorite activities is to work on drums. When creating the CLA Drums plugin, I had one thing in mind: Anyone who uses it can get a great drum sound for any song and any mix and just have fun! There are six different modes: Kick, Snare, Toms, Overheads, Room and, of course, my favorite, Cowbell. There are three color-coded presets for bass EQ, treble EQ, compression, and reverb, plus a noise gate so you can even get rid of leakage. The faders let you control the amount of each effect and, especially important for drums, we’ve included a phase switch so you can find the best setting for the kit.”

Eddie Kramer Bass Channel

Eddie Kramer on the Bass Channel: “The idea behind the Eddie Kramer Bass Channel was to create a fat bass sound with a lot of presence, that cuts through without being overbearing. In general, the low-mid frequencies are accentuated, so it really pops on radio mixes. That way, you can always hear it clearly, even at low volumes on small speakers. The Bass Channel comes in two flavors: Bass1, which is less compressed, for a more dynamic sound that has room to breathe, and Bass2, a more aggressive sound with increased compression.”

Eddie Kramer Drum Channel

Eddie Kramer on the Drum Channel: “The Drum Channel plugin really captures the essence of my drum sounds. Whether you’re trying to achieve a huge Zep-like sound with loads of atmosphere, or are going for something more dry and down-to-earth like the Stones, or need a heavily-compressed, squashed, Hendrix-type sound, this is the plugin that will get you there, quickly and easily. Since there are individual modes for bass drums, snares, and so on, you can really mix things up by creating your own hybrid drum kits, using your favorite elements from each.”

JJP Bass

Jack Joseph Puig on JJP Bass: “Every track is different. And every bass track is different. Sometimes you want just a great bottom; other times you want something with more mid-range that cuts through a mix. You may want to give it a bit of distortion, give it an edge. Or you’ll want to shape the sound with some nice bell EQs, use some compression and gate to lock it with the kick drum. I could even see someone using this plugin on the drums of a hip hop track as a sub enhancer, to give it some attitude. JJP Bass is a plugin that could be used in any situation.”

JJP Cymbals & Percussion

Jack Joseph Puig on JJP Cymbals & Percussion: “There’s really so much you can do with cymbals and percussion. You can use some lo-fi effect to fatten up shakers. You can take out the mid-range on tambourines to make them sound brighter, or you can add some dirt and distortion to make them sound grittier. You can boost the high end to enhance the shimmer of the cymbals or compress them hard, to bring out other aspects of their sound. The JJP Cymbals & Percussion plugin gives you instant access to all the different colors I like to use, so you can just fire it up, find what you need, and stay creative.”

JJP Drums

Jack Joseph Puig on JJP Drums: “There are certain things you usually just take for granted when you’re mixing drums. Sure, the snare has to snap. Or maybe you want it to have a woodier sound. The bass drum has to have a nice bottom. But beyond that, there’s a whole other range of things you need to consider to really make the song come alive. Maybe there’s some tonality in the drum kit that you want to emphasize. How do the drums relate to the rest of the song? And once you figure all that out—how do you get there? Well, what’s really great is, JJP Drums is a plugin that can do it all.”

Maserati B72

Tony Maserati on the B72 Bass Phattener: “The B72 actually has two distinct starting places. I’ve worked on a large variety of music for my artists, and there’s never just one sound or one preset. Try the ‘DI’ setting on your electric or acoustic bass and you’ll see how you can enhance the roundness, while keeping it lively throughout the song. The ‘Synth’ setting opens up a different door, with thickness, stereo spread, and harmonic flavor. It’ll fill the speakers like an old Prophet.”

Maserati DRM

Tony Maserati on the DRM Drum Slammer: “The DRM was designed to help the excitement of percussive transients get heard through mixes which are thick with instrumentation and vocals. Whether on programmed or live drums, DRM is a great starting point for your mix.”
