Canon developing next-generation imaging devices to expand the possibilities of visual expression

TOKYO, September 8, 2015—Canon Inc. announced today that it is developing a Cinema EOS System 8K camera and professional-use 8K reference display that will support the production of next-generation 8K video content, along with a still-image single-lens reflex camera equipped with a CMOS sensor featuring approximately 120 million effective pixels. Through the Company’s proprietary imaging technologies, Canon provides still and video input and output devices that will contribute to the development of imaging culture.
 

Sony Launches Professional XDCAM Camcorder with XAVCTM recording capability and New Zoom Lens

LAS VEGAS, Sony NAB Booth#C1101, April 6 2014 – Sony’s  new PXW-X180 handheld solid-state memory camcorder is the latest addition to the XDCAMTM Series. Ideal for broadcast and professional video production applications, it features three 1/3” Full HD Exmor® CMOS sensors and a new 25x optical zoom Sony G Lens with 26 mm wide angle.

The PXW-X180 records in MPEG HD422 at 50 Mbps, a format widely preferred by broadcasters and production houses today, and XAVC Intra and Long GOP, which enables 10-bit sampling for high-definition recording with rich tonal expression. It can also record in MPEG HD420 at 35 Mbps, AVCHDTM and DV.

NAB 2014, Las Vegas, USA - April 7, 2014 - Blackmagic Design today announced Blackmagic Studio Camera, a new camera specifically designed for live production and available in 1080 HD and Ultra HD models.

Blackmagic Studio Camera is one of the most advanced broadcast cameras for live production because it includes features specifically targeted at the requirements of live production! Currently customers often need to use cameras designed for general video production for live work and this means they don’t get features that live production demands, such as large viewfinder, talkback, tally, optical fiber and a super strong metal design.

AJA Debuts CION: 4K/UHD/2K/HD Professional Camera

Las Vegas, NV, NAB Conference, Booth SL2505 (April 7, 2014)— AJA Video Systems today announced CION, an entirely new professional camera. CION features an ergonomic design and is capable of shooting at 4K/UltraHD and 2K/HD resolutions. AJA pioneered lens-to-post Apple ProRes workflows with the introduction of the Ki Pro product line in 2009; CION builds on this achievement by offering in-camera recording directly to the Apple ProRes family of codecs - including 12-bit 444 - for pristine image capture. ProRes codecs are well established in many post-production environments and offer wide compatibility with editing, color correction and finishing applications.
